Today in class we did the following:

□ 1. Vocabulary words 1 - 20

□ 2. Homework: Vocabulary words 1 – 20 x 4, defs x 1, 5 sentences using two vocabulary words.


1.       chamber  n. – a room used for a special or official purpose

2.       admire  v. – to find someone or something attractive and pleasant to look at

3.       wealth  n. – a large amount of money or valuable possessions that someone has

4.       gaze  v. – to look at something or someone for a long time, especially in surprise or admiration, or because you are thinking about something else

5.       amazed  adj. extremely surprised

6.       behold  v. – to see or look at someone or something

7.       in the presence of (idiom) – when someone is present; around someone

8.       recognize  v. – to know someone or something because you have seen or heard him or her or experienced it before

9.       glitter  v. – to produce a lot of small, bright flashes of reflected light

10.  trespassing  v. – going onto someone's land or enter their building without permission

11.  reward  v. – to give someone something given in exchange for good behaviour or good work, etc.

12.  want for nothing (idiom) – to have everything one needs

13.  cry  v. – to call out loudly

14.  broaden  v. – to become wider, or to cause something to become wider

15.  fingertip  n. – the end of a finger

16.  assure  v. – to tell someone confidently that something is true, especially so that they do not worry

17.  caution  v. – to warn someone

18.  intense  adj. extreme and forceful or (of a feeling) very strong

19.  greatly  adv. – very much, used especially to show how much you feel or experience something

20.  bewildered  adj. confused and uncertain
