Sweet Music in Harlem Week 2

 

1. magazine  n. – a type of thin book with large pages and a paper cover that contains articles and photographs and is published every week or month

2. nephew  n.a son of one's brother, sister, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law

3. Harlem  n.a district of New York City, in NE Manhattan: large African-American population

4. brownstone  n.a dwelling faced with brownstone

5. onstage  adv. – onto or on a stage so the people watching can see:

6. penny  n. – in the US and Canada, a coin worth 1/100th of a dollar; a cent

7. dented  adj. – having a small hollow mark in the surface of something, caused by pressure or by being hit

8. barbershop  n. – a shop where a barber works

9. meanest  adj. – the best (informal)

10. cushion  n. – a bag made of cloth, plastic, or leather that is filled with soft material, often has an attractive cover, and is used especially on chairs for sitting or leaning on
