 Dear Parents,

Today in class we did the following:

□ 1. Vocabulary words 1 - 15

□ 2. Homework: Vocabulary words 1 – 15 x 4, defs x 1, 5 sentences using 2 vocabulary words.

Special note: Due to the Christmas performance this week, the vocabulary quiz will take place next Monday, 12/23.

1. accomplishment- n.- something that is successful, or that is achieved after a lot of work or effort; a skill; an achievement
2. gravity- n.- the force that attracts objects towards one another, especially the force that makes things fall to the ground
3. monitor- n.- a computer screen or a device with a screen on which words or pictures can be shown
4. focus- n. - the main or central point of something, especially of attention or interest
5. role- n.- the duty or use that someone or something usually has or is expected to have; (role model)- a person who someone admires and whose behavior they try to copy
6. Specific- adj.- relating to one thing and not others; particular; clear and exact
7. interview- n.- a meeting in which someone answers questions about himself or herself for a newspaper article, television show, etc.
8. Hispanic- adj.- from or connected with Spanish-speaking countries, especially those in Latin America, or having parents or grandparents from these countries
9. prejudice- n.  - an unfair and unreasonable opinion or feeling formed without enough thought or knowledge
10. native- adj.- relating to or describing someone's country or place of birth or someone who was born in a particular country or place
11. pride- n.- a feeling of pleasure and satisfaction that you get because you or people connected with you have done or got something good
12. additional- adj.- extra
13. opportunity- n.- an occasion or situation that makes it possible to do something that you want to do or have to do, or the possibility of doing something
14. accomplish- v.- to finish something successfully or to achieve something
15. Influential- adj.- having a lot of influence on someone or something
